Are you looking to find a new career path or developing your skills? There are many benefits and rewards in being a trustee of a local charity. It can be a life changing experience or it can enhance your CV when applying for a promotion or seeking new employment.

Trustees give direction to a charity and are ultimately responsible for its strategic direction and business objectives. Make sure you research an organisation and what will be expected of you before committing to the role. Responsibilities of trustees can be demanding but the payback can be immense in terms of networking, skills development and feel good factor.

Tameside charities and community organisations are in need of people from different backgrounds to inject some energy and fresh ideas into their boards. In most cases trustees must be 18 or over but some can be as young as 16 years old.

You will need to be able to make a commitment to the charity’s principles, have independent judgement and the ability to work as part of a team. With generally four obligatory annual meetings, it can be the perfect volunteering opportunity for busy people.
